This evening, at 18h, the performance of our 'Lysistrata' took place in en el Centre Comarcal Lleidatà. A gig with a different audience at its most, and a whole experience for all the ones who performed there to remember.

The cast willing to give it all on stage.

What is Lysistrata about?

Lysistrata (Greek: Λυσιστράτη "the one who dissolves the army") is Aristophanes’ most famous play.

We travel to Athens in 411a.C, in the middle of a war between Athens and Sparta that lasts for twenty year. Before the dark reality and stubbornness of men to keep on fighting, women, led by Lysistrata, will take a sexual strike in order to get that peace needed in Greek city-states. In the absence of making love... will they finish the war?

A Greek style comical utopia.

Today has been a curious day. After rehearsing on the hall during midday, adapting the play to the place's features and adding some particular surprise to take profit of the space, we went to have lunch and, when coming back a couple of hours before the show, we saw that the space was starting to fill with people whose average age was around 80 years old. I don't know if any of us thought that our play was quite subversive for those people and, if the audience was going to be like that in general terms, we might balance the tone of the play. Nevertheless, we didn't let down, and we decided to go and pull out all the stops. So the result was better than expected, though as usual there were some aspects that can be improved and luckily some younger public came, and the average age lowered considerably.

Different pictures of the play.

Thank you very much to all the audience who came and watched the play, independently of their age or if they stayed until the end without leaving the hall, we hope to have entertained you and that you came back home with a smile on your face or, at least, a good story to tell to your loved ones. Challenges are always something to be grateful of and a part of this career involves not knowing what kind of audience will come to see you on stage, so you must give your 100% on each gig to arrive to their feelings and be proud of your own work. Thanks, dear assisting audience, for giving me new challenges each day I get on stage and make me overcome myself step by step, this experience has worth it and wouldn't be easily forgotten.

I also want to thank the rest of my fellow companions for knowing how to meet expectations with me, for all the laughing and because, though all problems, we know how to cope with this play and carry it forward with good vibes and in the most professional way we can. Carry on, fellas! I foresee more (and better) adventures like this one!

Athenians and Spartans, allied to end up with the sexual strike

I also want to acknowledge the help of Alberto Rizzo as lighting and sound technician and all the staff members in Centre Lleidatà for ceding us their space, getting some audience and all the good treatment during the whole day. It's such a pleasure to work like this!

'Lysistrata' is looking for new horizons for its future. Stay tuned to our accounts on Facebook and Instagram for more news regarding the play. Big news is coming! As usually, I will try to inform you about them. Without nothing else to say, see you in next post...
