Yesterday evening, Saturday the 20th of January at 20h, the revival of our 'Lysistrata' took place in Ateneu Adrianenc's stage on a show that left no one indifferent: with an audience filling the theatre's grandstand at its most and who also filled the hall with their laughter; a new trial by fire for the cast, especially for the new incorporations, who had to adapt to the scenario's conditions, dust the play down and give the most to carry this play forward. Generally, an entertaining eve where we take a good taste of and a noticeable revival that kept mostly the essence of previous performances.

What is Lysistrata about?
Lysistrata (Greek: Λυσιστράτη "the one who dissolves the army") is Aristophanes’ most famous play.
We travel to Athens in 411a.C, in the middle of a war between Athens and Sparta that lasts for twenty year. Before the dark reality and stubbornness of men to keep on fighting, women, led by Lysistrata, will take a sexual strike in order to get that peace needed in Greek city states. In the absence of making love... will they finish the war?
A Greek style comical utopia.
In general terms, the revival itself had a great acceptance. Besides some last hour changes needed to be made, like for example mirroring the whole play due to the stage's features and since we're used to doing it in the opposite direction, with some previous rehearsals and the cast's disposition, we were able to solve it without many incidents. The final result was a slightly different performance where ourselves got surprised in some moments, but it's noticeable that this play has some path behind, and we know how to overcome this changes on a non-noticeable way, so the audience was able to enjoy, laugh and have fun like in other performances.

Assisting audience some minutes before the play
Thanks to all the audience who attended to watch the play, for us, it is such a pleasure to entertain you and make you feel a great time in addition to showing and teaching with Greek's classical theatre. In addition, after the play we were able to share opinions with some assistants and receive their critiques, mostly positive. I remember now that a group of women came to us after the play and, after congratulating us for the job performed, they told us that they were also rehearsing the play and that it will be premiered soon. Something that guarantees us that, besides it was written centuries ago, this play lasts on time and nowadays, it treats some topics that are well known for contemporary people. I also want to acknowledge especially to my closest family having attended to this performance, because they haven't watched the play yet. Besides the circumstances of travelling from Gran Canaria weren't for watching this revival itself, they were able to find some time to come and after the play they expressed their congratulations to the cast members (me included), telling me they had greatly enjoyed the experience in Ateneu Adrianenc.

I also want to acknowledge greatly to the rest of cast members for achieving that this play carried on besides the adversities and besides we weren't performing it for some time on stage. A special mention to Mireya Rocha and Loïc Pascual because this it's been their first performance with us, and they knew how to keep up with the circumstances. Keep up like that, fellas!

Thanks to Ateneu Adrianenc's staff members, to Joan Martí for programming us there and his son Nacho for helping us as lighting and sound technician under the supervision of Alberto Rizzo (director in La Coquera Teatro), who gave us some of his time and effort to make this revival something to remember, To all them, thank you very much for all the treatment and love, we hope to come back soon to your Ateneu with this play, or a different one, to make Sant Adrià's peoples have fun.
