Yesterday evening, our 'Lysistrata's season came to an end with its performance within Festival Raval és Teatre in Centre Cívic Drassanes. The play took place at 20h in the Theatre Hall of the aforementioned place, with an audience that filled the seats and who tipped over the most needed ones bringing some food for them and being the ones who contributed the most with Banc d'Aliments.

What is Lysistrata about?

Lysistrata (Greek: Λυσιστράτη "the one who dissolves the army") is Aristophanes’ most famous play.

We travel to Athens in 411a.C, in the middle of a war between Athens and Sparta that lasts for twenty years. Before the dark reality and stubbornness of men to keep on fighting, women, led by Lysistrata, will take a sexual strike in order to get that peace needed in Greek city-states. In the absence of making love... will they finish the war?

A Greek-style comical utopia.

It was our last show and a proof of that was that the most professional environment was felt among us, also the civic centre's staff has ceded their space to us on a residence during the last few months to rehearse the play, so we played at home, and we owed them a contribution as a theatre troupe too.

Final touches before going into the stage

After some last time brief changes in order to adapt the play to the stage's features, like taking off the choirs' videos and just keeping the audio, everything was ready for the play's last big show in 2019. Some minutes before the show, while we were putting on some makeup, the good vibes were quite noticeable among our team, helping each other and speaking with encouraging words, in addition to the already existing comradeship feeling since previous performances, but with the plus that this was our last play together. We were happy and proud of the way the play had taken during these three last year and for the new incorporations we had added during its path, but above all, we were disposed to give the best of ourselves in this last representation.

Finally, the designated time arrived and what was seen on stage was one of the best performances we had done during the last months. We could notice the audience's warmth who, though some live inconveniences, enjoyed and lived the gig with us. In the end, only a feeling of gratitude between both audience and us and good words about what was performed and lived remained there.

Thanks to all the assisting ones who filled the hall with their laughter, their support, and their vivid sights on us. Feeling that is such a pleasing sensation when performing on stage. For all your applauses, critiques and love felt after the show and your contributions to Banc d'Aliments, a million thousand thanks! I also met again with some people I didn't see for a while who found some time in their busy agendas to attend, which is something I'm grateful for. To all of our audience, a million thousand and one thanks!

I also want to acknowledge the team behind Festival Raval és Teatre for this chance and all CC. Drassanes staff members not only for yesterday's reception but also for all the affection and help given during these last months on our residence there.

Last but not least, I want to thank all the cast members, my fellow fatigue partners, for all these three years we've been sharing this play, including the ones who aren't there now. To Elena, Mar, Ainoa, Laia, Giulia, Mireya, Christel, Francina, Janet, Carmen, Edu, Nico, Aitor, Miguel, Loïc and Gonzalo: it's been such a pleasure to share a stage with you all, being able to see how you improve show after show, rehearsal after rehearsal, being conscious of your professionalism and your will to bring your best to scene, and surprising myself of the things you're able to perform on stage. For all your disposition, love, and especially for all the laughter, I congratulate you all! I can only feel proud of it.

I would also like to thank for their direction tasks and for letting me do it sometimes to Laia Cardona and Carmen Ibáñez, this last one was also working behind the lighting and sound table in this last performance. To all of you, I hope to be on stage again with you all with the certitude of having someone like you all next to me as soon as possible!

Final applauses in the last show

'Lysistrata' finishes its season 2019 with big memories and reaching good critiques during its three years journey. It's time to leave the project on one side and work in new ones! For the time being, there is the option of producing a new play keeping most of the cast on this one in order not to lose the progress and the good working environment during these years, however, it's only an idea and some months must pass in order to see where it takes us. To sum up, as a conclusion, I must say that... 'Lysistrata' has been an unforgettable project!
